so, i was really hesitant to read this book because there are virtually NO REVIEWS. there is ONE rating of 5 stars on amazon, and no ratings here on goodreads.

with that being said, i was drawn to this mostly because of the cover. don’t get me wrong, the summary was pretty gripping as well, but the cover and title definitely got me.

starting out, i was not putting too much hope in this book. i was like, “eh, it’s been out for years and no one has reviewed it? must not be worth a shit.” well...i was wrong. i was hooked. i don’t even remember when i realized i couldn’t stop reading. i HAD to know what was happening, what would happen next. yeah, the premise was kind of...out there. but hey, that’s my thing.

my favorite character was Jamie, the narrator. he was funny but cruel and i loved it. i especially loved his hallucinations. i also like the creepy kid thing. brainwashed children? murderous children? uh, yes please.

all in all, i was pleasantly surprised by this book. i’m even considering reading its sequel.
