This is a charming and compelling story, with some lovely dragon-based worldbuilding. Astraea is so dedicated to protecting her people that she’s afraid to want anything for herself, and Mal, growing up among people who resent her, has never felt worthy of love. I loved seeing them grow gradually closer and learn new things about themselves in the process.
