Obsessed with Malala’s story. She is an inspiration and role model, and I was so excited to finally read her story in her words.

I found this book to be very informative. It was a slower read because of how descriptive it was but I feel like a more informed person for it. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to expand their boundaries and learn how a country so different lives their everyday struggles. The girl that wrote this book is amazing and has directed a path for change.

Reading this book in 2024 after knowing her story and following news about her occasionally, I had no idea this would be a 5 star read. I was engulfed in learning about daily life in a violent society controlled by more than one terrorizing leader. It was especially interesting from a young girls' perspective, yet her thoughts were very mature due to her good education at the school her father founded as well as the direction and perspective of both her parents. This book is a relevant today, as it was when written due to all the conflicts around the world and within my own country.

This was great! I listened to this on audiobook and thought the narrator was fantastic. I’m not sure what I really expected going into this but I was surprised when the attack was mentioned right away, then the story rewinded and covered a ton of history, both personal and of the country, to lead right up to the attack and the very near future after. Definitely expect that going into this! I found the story and history very interesting and it came together in a way where you can see how everything slowly builds into the accident that occurs. Very well written, I loved learning more about their culture and practices and enjoyed seeing how they differed from my own.

What a brave story. I found it helpful that she started with the history of Pakistan, as I had very little knowledge on this topic. Bringing it forward through her family history and then her personal story made it flow. If only more people had her courage to stand up for what’s right!
