I knew I missed Lex and all the other great characters, but I didn't realize how much until I was reading this book.
This book was awesome and I can't wait for more!

Lex and Simon get called on to help track down some missing werewolves, and basically everything goes to s#*t from there. Even more than usual for this series, it’s kind of a frantic pace where things are happening too fast and our heroes are struggling to stop or survive one catastrophe after another. But there are still funny bits (including a makeover), and Katia comes to visit, so that was fun.

This is the first book I've read by Melissa F. Olson, and I loved it!. Boundary Broken is the fourth book in the series. It's unusual for me not to read the books in order, but I was intrigued by the blurb. So, I can confirm that it can be read as a stand-alone, although there are a couple of things that I didn't quite get. I'm considering getting the other books and start from the beginning. I loved how fast paced it is, the immersive plot and the intense build up. I could not put it down. In my opinion, it looks like it was made by an inexperienced graphic designer and didn't match the quality of the writing. So guys, don't judge a book by its cover!

Bear in mind that I didn’t read the first three books in the series, so there might be plenty of details (Easter eggs) that escaped my attention. Nevertheless, I enjoyed reading the book.

Lex is a boundary witch, which means that unlike regular witches she sees the ghosts of those who had violent deaths (if I understood correctly, only those leave behind ghosts, and there are several types of ghosts). By performing boundary magic, Lex helps the ghosts find the door to wherever souls go after death.

“There was boundary magic in my blood, and ghosts could somehow sense that. They didn’t move any closer, but their laughing faces went slack, and they turned their heads toward me, regarding me like a particularly sweet and tempting treat. [...] Still in the crouch, I turned in a circle, smearing the blood in a dark line that looked almost blue in the yellowish streetlights. [...] “Door,” I said out loud, concentrating as hard as I could on the image of a doorway.
Inside the circle, the pavement disappeared, replaced by a sort of swirling smoke that led… somewhere. I hadn’t opened a gate too, say, heaven or hell - that much I was pretty sure about. This was more of a neutral bridge to… wherever. Limbo, the gates of Saint Peter, Santa’s workshop. I didn’t know, and I wasn’t the least bit tempted to find out.”

Her peaceful life is disturbed when werewolves that saved her once come to her door to collect the favor she owed. A couple of werewolves from their pack went missing in the Colorado dunes. All they ask of her is to grant them safe passage in Boulder, Colorado (they weren’t allowed there, and I feel this was addressed in previous books). With Mavel’s approval (the vampire leader and her boss) she accompanies them to the dunes only to find them dead.

I’m so confused. I loved this installment ALMOST as much as the other ones. I probably would have loved it just as much had I not spent so much time wondering when so-and-so and so-and-so had gotten together and apparently also broken up among other things. I also have no idea what happened when Katia (sp?- listened to audio) got to Colorado and a deal was allegedly struck and so on.. SO CONFUSED!!!!

Book 4 of Boundary Witch series by Mellissa F Olson
Lex is starting to get everything back on track. She and Quinn are slowly building a relationship and getting into a lower pace with her rescue dogs and babysitting Charlie.
While the slower life is better with less injuries but Lex is feeling bored and useless.
Lex gets contacted by the local werewolf pack asking for help to find there missing pack-mates, so Lex gets in contact with Maven Vampire Queen for Colorado.
This book is a slow burning for me but it kinda has to be for the story and characters to develop properly to fully so when things come to a head things drop into place and all the confusing questions get answered.
Absolutely love this story and even though old enemies come back and cause havoc again it doesn’t feel like a repeat at all.
Fantastic ending and absolutely love this series and spin off series Scarlett Bernard

I honestly found this very confusing- I reread Boundary Born right before this in the hopes it would remind me what happened and bring me up to date in the series, but the Disrupted Magic series takes place inbetween and I can only assume that it moves the story for Lex on a fair bit because I'd clearly missed something :(

Another good entry into this series, scratches the urban fantasy itch.

What happens?
Lex is surprised to see the alpha of a werewolf pack at her door asking for help because his beta and wife had gone missing. After helping him and Mary find them, the two werewolves head out separately only for Mary to have to come back after Ryan disappears. Finding him at the bottom of a lake the werewolves all go into hiding fearing for some unknown force that is clearly out to get them and Marven.
Slowly uncovering what is going on Lex is under pressure to stop Morgan again. Using her boundary magic she raises the dead, puts some ghosts to rest and manages to stop a new war occurring.
Final thoughts
I really like these series', my favourite is Scarletts but I do enjoy Lex's story.
Lex is funny, organised but also clueless about a lot of things paranormal including herself. I like that she is getting better and growing.
Would I read again?: Yes
Would I read this author again?: Yes
Would I continue on with the series?: Yes

Loved this story but there were missing pieces for me. I didn't read/listen to the second set of Scarlett books so I'm assuming we learn about Lex's aunt in those. Same for the relationship between John & Sachi. There was a big time difference between this book and Boundary Born. The gaps were noticeable.
