5.0

This collection features five near-future SF short stories, an essay, and one longer story. The stories are a good mix of plausible technology, flawed but often hopeful characters, and some biting satirical elements. I particularly enjoyed the grim future view of my own line of work (education) as seen in the opening tale "Things Worth Knowing".

"Candy From Strangers" features a disturbing main character on the lookout for individuals suffering suicidal thoughts, and equipped with a poison candy solution to their problems. And "Willing Flesh had a creepy approach to the issue of weight loss.

The essay, "Is Resistance Futile" tells of the author's experiences testing Google Glass, and the final story, "Of All Possible Worlds" is a dimension-shifting epic that brings the nature of reality into question.

All of the writing is consistently strong, and the stories feature clever details, references to classic SF, and futures that feel all too real.
