Atom Eve is some sort of cute femme that it is clearly written by males 20 years ago. There is intention in here to make it more dimensional, but it still falls into the traditional tropes for female supes that are just too skittish and shown.

I read this as part of a full rereading of Invincible, and I regret it. It's certainly not The Worst Comic Book Ever Written, but it so pales in comparison with the main series that it seems nigh-unreadable when it's actually just uninspiring and bland. While Invincible takes superhero tropes and subverts them or exploits them to creative ends, this is the kind of satire where they just hit every beat of a superhero origin story and thrown in a few jokes. And some of the jokes land. And some of them hover in the air a few feet in front of your glaring eyes before shame causes them to blink out of existence.

I recommend this for completists.
