For having started this book In 2022 and then only reading 200 pages to finish it within a week seems so strange. This book was so much fun, I’m quite excited to get to other Shadowhunter books that I’ve forbidden myself from reading until I finished this. The plot was truly plotting so hard if only I had read the next chapter back In 2022 because this book truly picked up and never slowed down.

I’ve heard so many good things about the infernal devices from my friends but I think the eldest curses will have to be my next books because I’ve waited long enough for them I think.

A beautiful, BEAUTIFUL ending to this series!!! I laughed, cried, was on the edge of my seat, and every other emotion possible! So many memorable and well-written moments. I’m so sad it’s over, but I will definitely be reading the rest of Clare’s books in the Shadow world!!

I have no words. I sobbed through the end. I aspire to write like Cassandra. The ending is my favorite. I don’t know what else to say. Incredible book—the perfect ending to this perfect series.

The Details:
Narrated by Grant Cartwright and Eloise Oxer
Unabridged

I felt this was definitely epic in proportions and so much happened but I did feel a lesser connection to what was happening and found myself being not as compelled to pick it up. I think it may have been because I blended read the first few books and appreciated taking the words in as I listened, but just listening this time round (and the 5th book) felt too overwhelming for the amount of plot development that evolved.

That being said, I was still super invested and when events were unfolding in the demon realms my heart felt like it was in my throat.

Simon did the damn thing and I've never felt myself clench in anticipation and worry so much whilst reading something!

The last 20% really took off and despite me not feeling really secured in how everything had got to the point, I was still here for the ride.

A fantastic journey this has been, finally picking up The Mortal Instruments over these last couple months! Onto the next series set in the world of the Shadowhunters, relatively soon, I hope!

It felt like a bit more of an ending than City of Glass. I think it helps to think of the first three books in this series as the trilogy and the second set of three books as a seauel trilogy. I was sad that this was the end of the series and didn't fully realize until halfway through the book. As expected of the final book of a series, lots of loose ends/unfinished stories were tied up. A good ending to the series - finished up the plot points that needed to be wrapped up. I need to see if the characters were this self-aware in the previous book, because with a lot of the dialogue/interactions it really felt like a couple of them had gone through years of therapy between this book and the last. Really had its Spiderman: No Way Home moment. I had far too many moments trying to figure out where each familiar last name and name came from but eventually gave up.

I’m not sure why I waited so long to read the final book of this series because I loved it!! I laughed, I cried, and it was just an enjoyable reading experience all around!

Beautiful wrap up to the series. Bring tissues for both happy and sad tears. A thrilling last installment to this series and I will greatly miss all the characters.
