This is quite high on the weird meter from Gilbert. I love the way it takes some time (sometimes multiple readings) for me to understand just what the hell is going on in his work.
Fluid gender. Grifters. An abusive father. Sun-glass-wearing cultists. A mysterious cave - what the hell was up with the cave? The way that the same 'actor' play multiple roles. You could say that Fritz plays four roles: mother, father, brother, and sister.... I think. Man, will re-read this in a while and hopefully remember to check back in.
