This is the 2nd book in the Pennyfoot Hotel mysteries that I recently discovered (though this book was written in 1994), and it is a quaint cozy mystery set in early 1900's London that I am enjoying quite a bit. Cecily Sinclair doesn't exactly solve the mysteries as much as inquisitively stumble upon the answer, but it is an enjoyable read, with characters I am getting to know but and really like, and I look forward to see how the relationship between Cicely (the owner and lady of the hotel) and Baxter (her ever-helpful and loyal hotel manager) develop. Societal and class pressures will keep them apart for a while, but I hope they get together in the end.

I thought the ending with Mr. Rawlins and Mrs. Pantmeir (secondary characters) felt somewhat unrealistic and rushed, but other than that I thought it was well written and plausible.

This is the second in the Pennyfoot Hotel series, set in 1906 Southeaster England, along the coast. Two men have died suddenly, with their skin being blue. Then a 3rd man dies. Were they murdered, or were they all exposed to accidental poisoning?

Another great cozy mystery near the Pennyfoot hotel. Though this time the murder doesn't happen at the Pennyfoot, when Cecily's friend and employee are implicated, she is on the case! I really love reading about how Cecily slowly puts the piece together in this boggling mystery. I also love learning more about the main characters' lives during this series. Poor Gertie! She goes through a lot in this one. Also Baxter drive me nuts as usually, but a little less so this time. I wish we saw more of Madeline and Penelope, but it was understandable. I can't wait to continue.

New to me author and series. I typically don't read books set in this time period, but I rather enjoyed this one! Looking forward to spending more time at the Pennyfoot learning about its owner, employees, guests and more!

I picked this up as a freebie for my kindle. Turns out it's the second in a series, so I haven't read the first, as of yet. As I mentioned in a previous review, I've read quite a few books in this genre lately, and this one was alright. I was reading this while on vacation, and it was perfect for that, as it was a light read, and easy enough to follow with frequent interruptions and sporadic reading opportunities.

While I wasn't overly enthralled with the main character, I did enjoy reading about most of the others. They were diverse and believable, and some were quite quirky and interesting. The plot, at times, was slow, but for the most part, was also interesting. I would say it was likely the characters that made the book for me.
