This book was a real source of inspiration for me, a young adult who dreams of one day working in the field hockey world. Brian Burke is a sincere and inspiring man.

Brian Burke is an interesting guy, and this memoir of his makes for engaging reading. This is definitely his chance to get 'his side of the story' out on a couple of things that went down, but that's not really a surprise.
This is great read - a look into how the NHL works behind the scenes, from a guy who's pretty much done everything. I was kinda shocked at the amount of times Burke freely admits to threatening specific employees with physical violence (like yikes, someone call HR??), but maybe that's how it works in the Old Boys' Hockey Club (tm).
Potentially a strange read straight after Burke got fired by the Penguins, but super fascinating all the same. And the chapter about his son Brendan, who was gay, and who died young in an accident, had me sobbing. It's nice to see a truculent old school hockey guy be so progressive and supportive of LGBTQ+ representation in hockey, and to see him doing good in his son's name.

This was extremely good. I enjoyed this book immensely. Very easy to read, Burke wrote with a conversational style that was able to keep my attention easily. The stories in the book were great and it was very interesting to get a behind the scenes look at the teams that Burke was a part of. Highly recommend to any hockey fan.
