Never wanted to scream at a narrator so bad. Literal insane decisions.

Also that ending is whack.

I haven’t been able to stop thinking about this book since finishing it. A 22 year old woman wanders around, pretending to belong among wealthy summer vacationers, causing chaos whenever she encounters someone willing to give her a hand. The Guest is like Anna Delvey meets The Bell Jar. Cline’s prose is succinct yet enthralling.

Loved the writing and the world and feeling that cline fleshed out line by line. The story was enthralling but could be anxiety inducing or tedious in the same breath. Desperately wish the ending gave us more. I understood the commentary on class, gender, and the delusion but was waiting for the culmination of the writers point to be revealed at the end but it left me wanting more and a little confused by the end. I think it went over my head

Rented from library and major life event happened in the midst of it all so the reservation expired. I wasn’t that gripped by it the first time around so wouldn’t rent again.
