After my first reading of Natalie Linh Bolderston's pamphlet, I knew I wanted (needed) to review it. I connect with this little collection so much - both in terms of its themes, but also its style. Bolderston is a highly imagistic poet that weaves together the present, imaginary, and mythic all at once, creating surreal, yet utterly real, landscapes in her work.

*I received a digital copy of Natalie Linh Bolderston’s The Protection of Ghosts through The Poetry Question for review purposes. As always, this review reflects only my honest thoughts on the book.*

Natalie Linh Bolderston’s The Protection of Ghosts presents a phenomenal, haunting collection of poems considering family, culture, trauma, grief, and so much more. These poems take the reader through generations and geographies a lens that feels deeply personal; the reader becomes a fly on the walls as these families are presented and personified.
