Though this is not a story that I grew up with, I absolutely love Anne of Green Gables. The movies are wonderful, but (as usual) can't share everything that the book contains.
This book makes me feel as though I've been taken away to Prince Edward Island. I love the characters and the writing style.
If you haven't read this book, I would highly recommend it. Two thumbs WAY up!

Wonderful to revisit an old favourite. Anne (with an E) is just as engaging as she was when I first read this 25 years ago.

It took me forever to read this book! I loved it though. As someone who "suffers" from red hair myself, I just love Anne. The girl has a flair for the dramatic and a very active imagination. My grandma gave me the first three books of this series when I was about 9. She read them as a young girl and thought I'd enjoy them. Never read them until now (almost 20 years later), but it makes me feel close to her and miss her. I'm looking forward to reading the rest!

Finally starting this one again after about 10 years or so of not finishing it. My grandma has always wanted me to read this because it is her favorite childhood book, but I never got around to it.

'Dear old world,' she murmured, 'you are very lovely, and I am glad to be alive in you.'

My first book of 2016! I must confess that I picked up Anne of Green Gables as my first read this year on purpose, because I knew that I'm going to love it (again).

In my opinion, Anne is the very definition of "classic". I read it in my childhood, when I was a teenager and now as an adult and I always took out something from it. It's truly a timeless story, which can be read and enjoyed by people of all age, and I'm sure I will be coming back to it many many times.

The writing and descriptions are simply beautiful. Avonlea and Green Gables described by Lucy Maud Montgomery through Anne's eyes was a heavenly place and I enjoyed the imagery almost as much as Anne's adventures. It was the first time that I read the original text in English, so at first I had small problems with some words but in the end it wasn't that bad and I expanded my vocabulary. :) I also adore all of the characters. Anne is especially dear to me probably because I've always identified with her, but the whole cast of the characters is well written and lovable.

All in all, Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery is a warm and sweet story that I would recommend to absolutely everyone. You will laugh, you will cry and you will fall in love with Anne and Avonlea :)
