I read this as part of a three-volume boxed set. This first volume is all about the set up, which is excellent, but because there is so much page time on set up, it drags in places. Fortunately, because it was a box set, I keep going and the later volumes are solid 4-star reads.

Has some potential, somewhat dislike the constant self doubt. Willing to check out the next one.

Yet another take on vamps and weres. Nothing too out of the ordinary

The potential!!!

There were some parts of this I really really enjoyed but unfortunately it didn’t hit in a lot of other areas. The concept was fun enough, some characters had some great moments (I’m looking at you Mandy) and the humour hit just right sometimes. But then there’s the matter of our Main Character being tdtl, her sister being awful, everything that was going on with Vic and a few other things. At some points, I really was tempted to carry on with this series, see where it goes, but I’ve decided not to do that. Shame.

I found the pacing to be a bit slow in some places, and too fast in others, but overall enjoyable. I'm definitely going to continue reading the series.

I feel like the world building just needs a little more work, which I'm optimistic about for future novels.
Spoiler

I found the romance with Vin to be a little off-putting. I feel like she moved way too quickly from hating someone to being borderline intimate with them. Also I found him to be more creepy than appealing as a potential romance interest.

I liked the twin sister subplot, I thought it was really clever, except where Vin was concerned. I feel like everyone involved got over it really quick, even though it was a lie that Laura had been maintaining for like 10+ years
