I never thought John Steinbeck would be the author to pull me out of a reading slump, but here we are. I started reading this maybe two years ago, and then DNF'd it because I wasn't feeling it. I'm so glad I gave it another chance because WOW. I really enjoyed reading these stories. John Steinbeck is becoming one of my favorite authors, and I can't wait to read more of his work.

Didn't read all the stories, but I do hope to get back to read them at a later date

Picked up the hard back version in a half Price bookshop a few weeks ago and have been dipping into it to get my fix of one of my favorite authors.
It all started with Tortilla Flat, as I had never before read it, even though a paperback copy of it sat on my shelf for some time. Needing more Steinbeck, I pulled out my newer (have 2) copy of Cannery Row and dove in.
Had to be my 10th or so rereading of Cannery Row (all time fave Steinbeck tome). Got through the Moon is Down and The Pearl (first time reads) and finished up with Of Mice and Men (3rd or so read).
Steinbeck's short novels are like mini vacations for me. A total escape, whenever I need some mental time from life.

This is a collection of the best of Steinbeck's short stories and novellas. This is worth picking up if your a fan of his or even if you are looking to get familiar with him before or after reading The Grapes of Wrath and/or East of Eden.
