Story is interesting but writing is bland and does not convey any of the required emotion. Disappointed :(

Seemed promising and there are plenty of good ideas here, but there was no solid plot line and no real draw to any of the characters for me. Too many POV characters with too little distinction in voice and it was often initially unclear who was narrating any given chapter. I’m a fan of fantasy politics and space operas in general, but this was unfortunately, for me at least, lacking the needed depth and excitement needed to keep it interesting and engaging.

Fathomfolk is a story about an underwater world with mythical creatures and a political plot. This story wasn’t for me as I found it hard to follow and I felt that the story only began after 200 pages. If you are a fan of mythical sea creatures and love a heavy political plot, then this story might be a good one for you.
