As always, Fr. Jacques Philippe does not disappoint! You will want to read this again and again. It is succinct advice for keeping your soul at peace as you journey through the spiritual life.

I need to have this book on an IV drip to my arm.

I began by liking this book more than I thought I would.

But I do really know myself after all and soon got tired and bored with the roundabout recapitulations about how "one must keep peace in one's heart, always." Of course, being bored by what is a spiritually enriching and wholesomely GOOD book made me feel guilty for feeling the way I did about it...

It's not that that the book was incorrect (although at sometimes I thought misleading sentences were placed for "comfort") but that its points could have been summed up in just a few paragraphs.

Wow I never thought I would be reading a book like this a few years ago. It's been a year since I started going to Catholic Church, and we have this book for Saints Phillip and James book club on Tuesday. This is a simple text on maintaining inner peace, accepting the inevitability of sin and cultivating patience on our spiritual journey. I found a lot of the ideas expressed similar to Buddhism and this book, among other things, has showed great similarities between the two faiths. I hope this will allow me to embrace Catholicism more fully. Book only doesn't get 5 stars because it might be more worth it to read texts written by the Saints themselves.

I'm excited to start this one all over again, only this time with a pencil in hand so I can mark it up. This little book holds so much wisdom and beauty, and the power to change lives!
