Gerald's Game by Stephen King

Gerald's Game is a novel which could have been over before it started if both parties understood consent and safety. Example, Jessie: "Paper moose." Gerald: "Okay, we're stopping."
(Un)fortunately this is a Stephen King novel, so realism doesn't exist here. Gerald just up and goes ghost, so we have this painful story of a woman trying not to die while tons of awful stuff happens to her.
I initially only read it because I am trying to read every Stephen King work, but I liked most of it. This book is expectedly graphic and hard to read at some moments. What else would you expect from King?

Who would’ve thought I wouldn’t like a book about being tied up during sex? Disappointed this wasn’t a 5/5 star

It started out as promising as Misery and Cujo but it lost much of my interest when it became too Hannibal Lecterish.

Stephen King is weird. And don’t bother watching the movie version of this - the first 10 minutes showed us it was terrible anyway.

I absolutely love this premise and a lot of the execution. Some of the content bothered me a little bit (and not in a good skin-ripping-from-hand way). I really dislike the last 30 or so pages of this book. Was not needed.
