This series keeps getting better and better, I couldn’t stop reading until I reached the end. A mystery plot, an intense love story and an amazing historical novel - great storytelling with historical accuracy is hard to find but this series is a great example of that.
The story revolves around Catrin and Daniel. She is a young woman facing the limitations of her genre in the XIX century. He is a journalist and adventurer that wants to live his life to the fullest. Their letters to each other give Catrin glimpses of the life she cannot have and give Daniel the anchor to a drifting life. But their different circumstances make a life together impossible.
A serious injury (not a spoiler if you are following the series since it is told in a previous volume) changes Daniel’s life and turns him into a recluse. Can Catrin help him? Will he let her? Has the pain turned him into a monster?
A great book not to be missed! And I can’t wait for the next one in the series!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book.
