This was spellbinding! I wasn't able to read it fast enough, life kept getting in the way. Brilliant world-building and fantastic characters. It going to be hard to let them go, I want to follow them on.

This series is my favorite of Masha du Toit's to date -- and the latest book in the series continues exploring the world she's created right where the last left off.
As with the other books, you experience the story through the eyes of a few different characters (and species). But despite the head hopping, everything feel cohesive. I never had to back track or felt lost.
And (I don't think it's a spoiler given the title of the book) we finally get to see The Strange and how it all works. I've been curious about it now and was not disappointed.
I'm not sure if it's just the time since reading the last book, but this one hits a little harder and feels a little grittier than the previous ones. And overall, I think that's a good thing.
Can't wait to see where this story goes next!
