This was a pleasant read, but nothing to shout about. A little predictable in some ways, other ways not. An interesting portrayal of how sometimes a couple splitting up is not the be all end all...and sometimes it might even be the only way to find our true selves. But, I like to believe people can still do that while in a couple...if enough space is there.

I am very happy with the the college that mikel was excepted into on a full scholarship and am very happy to say that Bubi is doing very well from her injury. Oh wait! That's what happens to the character in the book, not to my family!! But this book reminds me of them both in good ways and has very similar situations. I liked the book

I found the flow of the book to be kind of off. I felt that it all kind of skimmed the surfaces when it came to characters and events.

I'd give this book 2-1/2 stars only. There were a lot of things going on in this book yet the events were not written well enough that I felt any real building of suspense or subsequent relief. The author admits in "Inspiration for Home Repair" that she wrote whatever scene came to her and fit it all together later. I'm not sure I'd recommend this method of writing again. I felt like this book could have been so much better.

A cute book, that is sometimes cheesy, but well-written.

It was suggested to me that I read this book. A friend of the author had read my blog and told me this book might be one I’d like. I’ve been wary of books offered up to me. Lately I’ve had nothing but disappointments.

Not this book. Not sure how the friend of the author knew this, but this book was an absolutely perfect match for me…a main character, Eve, who has been widowed and now abandoned by a second husband, leaving his family during a garage sale, no less. Left with two kids to raise. A shaky job. Odd and unstable friends. A cranky mother.

Doesn’t sound like we’re going to see a happily-ever-after ending here. But strangely we do, though not in ways we’d ever expect. The author has that wonderful ability to take life seriously while also laughing it off. A lovely read.
