Not a dazzler

I love ms Holmburg’s writing style and voice but this one didn’t compare to her other books.
It also seemed like there were some editing issues. Overall it didn’t seem to have a strong purpose or driving force. There were several sections that repeated themselves.
Overall a decent book

Another reviewer said this book is "if Studio Ghibli did a Western"... They're right.... But sometimes something that would be mesmerising on screen is boring and plotless in print.

So cute, so studio Ghibli, literally howls moving castle. DO NOT READ if you are looking for "quality literature" or "natural dialog" or "logical reasoning."

Don't get me wrong, this was still a wonderful story, but it's a quick story and one that I don't think I'll read again. I liked this story of magic and the earth rebelling against those who sought to take its gold. And I liked seeing Gentry get her happy ending :]

I love books which include magic, but this one was sort of out of left field. It didn’t seem to have much substance to it. And as much as Gentry complained of stomach upset, I wish pepto bismol had been available. Also, the racism against the American Indian characters in the book was blatant and a bit difficult to swallow. I don’t care if it’s historically accurate-it’s a work of fiction. Don’t be racist. Id classify this as a romance-a slow, plodding bromance. Doesn’t make me want to read any more of her books.

Very cute book. Little house/tress and the Emerald Sea vibes. Very feel good cozy read and fast. Entertaining. I had a little bit of metal book syndrome where there seem to be a lot of needless information but other than that it was and felt good.
