This wasn't as good as the last one I read of spider man.
Was interesting though as I saw heaps of references to other Marvel hero's. (Captain America short ans Stark Industries ad)
It ddi seem to jump a fair bit two either thr second comic included which was unexpected and very confusing.
The graphics were great though very impressive, the pencilwork at the end is also very impressive.

Eh. To be honest, it wasn't that great, the art was good though.

Maybe a little less of spider star and a little more of Peter Parker being Peter Parker

The art was gorgeous and the story fun but at the same time, this was not for me. I'm a huge Spidey fan but there's also only so many times you can read or experience an origin story. In particular this reads like a Homecoming first draft with the Daily Bugle involved.

It is fun but probably aimed for Spider-man beginners.

After DC's"Earth One" graphic novels hit big, Marvel came back with this "Season One" series. Unlike Earth One, which has given really strong reinterpretations of the classic heroes, "Spider-Man Season One" feels well-intentioned, but largely unnecessary. It hits all of the standard beats of the classic origin, updates the old photo camera to an "old digital" and so forth, but it brings nothing new to the table. If you're one of the two people in the world who doesn't know Spider-Man's origin, this is great. For the rest of us, it's a case of been there, done that.

With all the talk this summer about The Amazing Spider-Man and the kind of pointlessness of the film given the fact that within the past ten years the public had been shown the origin of Spider-Man in film, which is something I personally don't agree with, I thought it updated Spider-Man's origins in a relevant way and got rid of some outdated aspects of Spider-Man's origins, I sat down to read Spider-Man: Season One by Cullen Bunn.

I assumed Marvel was taking a page from DC Comics and the Earth One series, which now has two volumes of Superman and one of Batman, as a way to reintroduce their characters in a relevant and fresh way for new readers. Also, to make it less daunting of a task to jump in and read a Spider-Man story, starting from the beginning, instead of issue 700 or the hundred plus issues of the most recent Spider-Man reboot, Ultimate Spider-Man.

Well, I think, for me at least, this one was a pretty big failure. It wasn't culturally relevant, things that I liked that The Amazing Spider-Man film did, was keep up with the times. I understand J. Jonah Jameson is an important character to the Spider-Man mythos, but having such a big part of your story based around newspapers, it's just not relevant, especially to the younger audience, which I assume is who this graphic novel would have been written for.

That, on top of the fact that I felt a lot of the dialog was stilted and while a good majority of the art was nice, there was a few panels that I thought looked rather bad, the whole thing just fell kind of flat for me. Easily the least interesting retelling, or reboot, if you will, of Spider-Man's origin I've experienced.
