The beginning wasn’t that great, imo. However, the book’s second part (+ epilogue), where the world expands a bit, made up for it. I really liked Steris in this book, especially with her endless lists. The slow build-up of the relationship in this book was cleverly done: believable, heartwarming, and exactly how I like romance in my fantasy books.

I am a sucker for good characters and good character development and this book delivers on that. I loved the exploration of Steris in this story; her growth with Wax was so fun. MeLaan, Wayne, and Marasi, as this little crew that joined along on the shenanigans, were just so lively.

The scene when their checking into the inn and everyone is just being their funny odd selves was priceless

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the last installment.
