Very unexpected ending to the trilogy, but I've come to realise that Brandon Sanderson just can't resist building a more massive world soon after you've come to grips with the current world. It does almost seem like he's just tacking a bigger world onto what he's already written, coming up with explanations to link it all together. But at the end of the day, I enjoyed the hints at something bigger and will read all of the books that come out of his cosmere.
Another side note on the characters though - Steris in particular as a character just didn't seem realistic, the language used to describe her between the second and third book (or book 5 and 6 if you want to be pedantic) shifted massively to fit in with how the plot developed, which obviously makes sense but is very disconcerting. Again, I didn't have much of a emotional connection to any of the characters, but the story was good enough that I almost didn't care. Almost.

Bands of Mourning by Brandon Sanderson
Quotes: "Have you ever been somewhere you didn't fit in? A place where everyone else seems to get it immediately? They know what to do. They know what to say. But rusts, you have to work to untangle it all?"
"That describes my entire life," Steris said softly.
"The difference between good and evil men is not found in the acts they are willing to commit—but merely in what name they are willing to commit them in."
"..I love the idea that I can break out of it all-the expectations, the way I'm regarded, the way I regard myself-and soar."
"Go,” Marasi said. “Do what you do best, Waxillium Ladrian.”
“Which is what? Break things?”
“Break things,” Marasi said, “with style."
Review: A Kandra comes to Elendel to tell Wax, the Bands of Mourning, a mythical weapon of metals created by The Lord Ruler, that few really believe exist is being sought by The Set (the Villains of this series) Wax, Wayne, Marasi and Surprisingly, Stiris must find the Bands before the Set does or a war will start.
This series just gets better and better. It's fast-paced Steampunk adventures, humor, and great characters make for a fantastic read. While I like all the main characters. I have to say Stiris in this book really stole the show for me. The growth we got to see from her was so good.
The final chapters build to a page turning ending.
Wayne is, of course, hilarious as always.
Marasi continues to shine as the more level-headed person in the group.
And Wax is just as interesting as a leader.
All I'll say is that Sanderson can write some subtle romance a lot better than he gets credit for.
Overall, 4, maybe 5 ⭐️ again
Thanks for reading 📚

Another amazing book in this world of the mistborn! This book tugged at my heart strings more than the other 2 books, I love the character and romance development and the way Sanderson keeps you guessing!
