I didn't think I'd be giving a Sanderson book three stars, let alone two in a row in a series. I loved the original trilogy and really enjoyed The Alloy of Law, but with Shadow of Self and now The Bands of Mourning, I'm just not enjoying these as much as I hoped.

I found both this book to be very predictable. Nothing is necessarily wrong with that, other than that twists and turns are played up as being shocking reveals, while it was obvious for quite a while the route that the story was going to take.

In a positive light, Sanderson really made Steris a much more understandable (but slightly cringy at moments) character.

I'm still going to continue the series because this was by no means bad, it just seems like a very middle of the road Sanderson book. Probably this and Shadow of Self are my least favorite Cosmere stories, though I have yet to read Arcanum Unbounded and Elantris.

A fantastic third book in the Mistborn Era 2 series. Full of mystery and new characters as well as jaw-dropping moments that will have you flipping back through the book to look for the hidden clues. A great read. Can't wait for the fourth book!

Is this my favorite era 2 book yet?! I think so. Go Steris!!! So much fun and I thought I was saying goodbye to the characters. But I get one more book! Now to wait til November
