This is a short story that takes a fair few hours to read. In total it took me about 4 hours to read spanning 3 days.
It goes into great detail of the 3rd war. In the 3rd war the High Elves lost 90% of their population to the scourge, lead by Arthas Menethil. Once the initial invasion is over and the survivors regroup they change their name from High Elves to Blood Elves.
This does not go over Sylvanas and her transformation from High Elf to Banshee though she does make several appearances throughout in both forms.
Reading it takes you through the rollercoaster of emotions the elves feel.
Though this does mostly follow Lady Liadrin there is emphasis put on several other characters including Lor'themar Theron the now Regent Lord of Quel'thalas, leader of the Blood Elves.
Definitely recommend reading as it does have some key parts to the lore, I couldn't find exactly where to place this in a reading list so I have placed it just before Arthas: Rise of the Lich King by Christie Golden. Still unsure as to where it is actually supposed to be placed.
