Alright. I’m just going to hop right in. This will be a short and sweet review simply because I don’t have a lot to say about this book. It wasn’t that it was a bad book but it was a short middle grade book and I often don’t have a lot to say when it comes to this genre. The plots can be simplistic and I don’t want to give too much away by talking about them.

So this wasn’t a terrible book but I think I’m the wrong age group for it. This seems to be such a trend with me anymore. Getting old sucks. I had originally read this book when I was in 8th (eighth) grade and I remember it being amazing. I still enjoyed the book though. I barely remembered anything that happened and if I remember correctly, I read this series out of order so I was dreadfully confused until I figured it out. This was all before Goodreads and before I had access to the internet.

One of the things that always confused me when I read this book was the alter ego, Scarper. Like it was one person but the way it was written, it was like two different people. It was just weird and confusing at times. After reading the book now, I wasn’t confused. I understood when it was Montmorency and when it was Scarper. I understood that it was just one person but I could see why young Lacy was a confused little turnip.

Overall, I don’t have a lot to say about this book. It was good and I did enjoy the ride. It was nice to read a good old fashioned middle grade book. Since I had read it before, it brought back some good memories. Not of the book but I remembered when I first found it at the library and how much fun I had at the library. I’ll probably continue with the series at some point but I don't know when. Hopefully I can find the rest of the series at a thrift store or order them online. If you enjoy middle grade books, then you might enjoy this book. Just make sure to read the series in order. Don’t be like me.
