The characters were two dimensional and the feminism was just as simple. Lots of cool concepts, but lackluster execution.

Just felt a bit one dimensional- I get the message of the book but it feels like that’s all it is- just rips off the original story and doesn’t add enough

This was such an amazing story! I’m not gonna lie some parts of it were hard to read and I’ve had some nightmares about a few truths that this book tell but I am so grateful that it was written and I’m am so thankful that you wrote it!!!

It has a happy ending, I tried to look up on google if it did or not and couldn’t find out. I was halfway through the book and almost quit because I didn’t know if it had a happy ending or not. Enjoy the story!!!!!

Zero world building but fantasy? I was really hoping to enjoy this book when I read it back in 2020. I didn’t have Goodreads then to leave the review

I was excited for a black Cinderella retelling and this didn’t deliver.

It was a decent read. I don’t think It’ll stay with me for a long time like other books do but it was a fun read.
I found the book a bit long. Most revelations were pretty predictable and since we only have as much information as the main character, it made her seem a bit dumb to take so long to come to certain conclusions. Like

the fact that immortal Manford couldn’t be killed with just a stab, or the fact that draining the girls was what sustained him.

I will say however, I really was surprised by

the fact that Amina was Manford’s mother, thought I wish there’d been more foreshadowing about it

.

I liked the romance, it was cute. Sophia was so unbelievably horny it was funny. 

It was an all around fine, fun book with a message that, although basic, is important and well-meaning.
