I love reading scripts, and I enjoyed this book as well! The extra scenes are golden, and Fellowes's commentary sheds light to many things. However, his rather pompous and traditional views irritated me somewhat, and I wish he would have left politics out of this book. It was also a bit annoying to always hear whose side you are supposed to be on in an argument (the reason I watch TV is that I want to relate to the characters and make up my own mind about them).

I also disagree with a few of his statements, the first being that a couple must always have some problems for it to be interesting. I would watch a happy couple tackling life problems together a hundred times over some unnecessary marital drama. I also find it quite ridiculous that Fellowes says he has omitted many pivotal scenes where secrets unravel because he doesn't want the audience to feel that the show is repetitive. However, this book and the show are both full of repetition as it is. I really wanted to see how the characters approach a touchy subject and how they tell their biggest secrets to each other - it feels like a cop out to not write those scenes.

Still, despite all my negative comments, I think this book is a must for all Downton fans. The series is one of the best ever aired and this book allowed me to enjoy it once more.
