"Set at about the same period as Paul Magrs' novel Verdigris which I was reading at about the same time. Mike Yates tells the story of a magician who is sucking up all of London's energy. The plot is nothing terribly new; Richard Franklin does the voices adequately, as does Michael Chance playing the evil magician. Verdigris is better."

While it's sad that the bad guy is so cartoonishly evil the last few minutes of the drama are really good. I don't really care for pining, but I think it's handled with the right amount of wistfulness and self knowledge.
