Strong Poison by Dorothy L. Sayers

Despite some things I didn't love about this book - the long exposition at the beginning of the book describing the case, over-reliance on dialog - I will probably read at least one more because of all the things I did like: dry humor; likable detective; rather clean, old-fashioned style. A murder-mystery writer whose latest book happens to be on a murder by poison is being tried for the murder by poison of her ex-lover. Amateur detective Peter Wimsey is convinced she's innocent. Plus he wants to marry her.

Pretty obvious from the start who the villain was, but entertaining just the same.

Listened to the audiobook - thoroughly enjoyed the reader, also the story is very engaging. Miss Murchinson's exploits gave me some thrills - but she was very plausible when she got caught.

Audible free, a decent whimsy mystery but a little long-winded. Ultimately finishes up with a nice typical flourish

I've never read much mystery and no Sayers. This was for a book challenge but I'm glad that I read it regardless. Sayers has such a fantastic writing style. The characters were witty and complex. I really enjoyed it.
