This book has been on my “to read” shelf forever. I don’t remember how it got there or why, but this year I am determined to clean up some of these long forgotten “to reads”. So I picked this book up. I am glad I waited until this time in my life to read it, as I related more to Jillian now the I would have 10 years ago. Jillian is a mom that is stuck in the rut of cleaning house and changing diapers. She thinks “what it?” and then is suddenly transported back in time with the hindsight to make the right choices this time.

I loved the ending where she realizes that her past shapes her, and I loved the realizations she made along the way about motherhood, being a women, being a wife, and being happy.

I really didn't enjoy this book and hurried trying to finish it. The author feels the need to curse to make a point. The book could have been excellent but I found the author going of on tangents. I don't think I will be reading any others by her any time soon. A disappointing read.

Too slow paced and it was hard to really get into the story

An easy read. I generally liked the voice and the lead characters, and thought the overall problem in the book was very relatable. But about 3/4 of the way through (and maybe even a little earlier) I was already exhausted of the fact that she was the only person alive that couldn't realize the path she was going down wasn't the right one. It started to wear on me a bit, and I felt it lagged on from about then until the end.

The ending was somewhat expected, but I would have liked a little more context, a little more resolution. All these things have changed in her "current" life, but we only get references of "oh she's with your mother." So now the entire relationship between her and her mother has mended? Seems a little strange to me. I think exploring some of the changes, even if it only lasted a chapter, or maybe even an epilogue, would have been a welcome addition.

Jillian is unhappy with her perfect suburban life, marriage, etc. until she wakes up one morning seven years in her past. She is still young, single, working for a high-powered ad agency, and living with the ex-boyfriend she never quite got over. This is Jillian's chance to fix things so that they turn out the way she want. What WILL she do???

I enjoyed this book a lot more than I expected to. For the most part, I found it to be a fun read. In the beginning of the book though, I was surprised at how willing the main character was to throw away the very existence of her daughter to make things up with her ex. I also felt the ending was too rushed and was a complete reversal of how Jill felt during the majority of the book.

Really fun read about what happens when you get the chance for a "do over"

I enjoyed this as an easy, predictable read, but I'm longing for more of an emotional connection to a lot of the characters. Jillian's struggle in her present life is never explored, I was left wondering why she was so unhappy, what led to this depressed yearning for her old life and what happened to get her to such a sad place? Then suddenly, she's waking up in the past. I have several unanswered questions about the whole book, so I can't say I loved it.
I did, however, enjoy the perspective on looking back and remembering why she fell in love with Henry and why she left Jack. It's easy to look back on past relationships with fondness, but the reminder of why she ended up with who she did was an interesting reality check.
I'm pretty lukewarm on the book and the author. I don't know that I'd read her again. Surface level, unattached and predictable.

I think most people can related to the topic of this novel, what we would do if we had the chance to do it again. I really enjoyed the way that the author dealt with the issues and the changes that Jill was making in her "do-over". My only disappointment was Jill's return to her life with Henry; I was really hoping for more detail and discussion about how her life changed, having had the chance to go back and see her life through different eyes.
