This book is written in the style of a kid telling you a story, or rather recounting what happened over the past months to the kid and his siblings. I find that it does that very well, but to me as an adult, that kind of writing is extremely tiresome. On the other hand, I know that I read books written in that style when I was a child, and enjoyed those books, and I found this writing style quite funny. Maybe that says a lot about how old I am... Anyway, I decided not to give the book a star rating, as it is an old book and the narration style was modern for that time, even if it is a bit tiring for us 100+ years later. I am glad that I read this classic children’s novel, it is a quick read after all, to be recommended if you want to try another narration style than e.g. the Narnia books.

An enjoyable quick read with a nice little tale; reminds me of The Famous Five. However for me personally, not through the books own fault, the story was a bit dated, and perhaps aimed at a younger audience, therefore leaving me a little bored and struggling to push to the end.
