This was a beautiful story, introducing readers to a job they may not have given a second thought. It quietly describes a morning, and responsibility, and the illustrations beautifully convey the early hour and the gradual dawning of a day.

I wonder how many children would easily accept that this young man has a job delivering papers. In our part of the world adults have taken over this job market.

A caldecott honor story book about a paperboy. With okay art and writing. And I delivered papers in a somewhat similar way, though not first thing in the morning. And yet it did not ring true to me at all. And the very rural setting seemed off. And this didn't feel like a book I would want to read to little kids. And the paperboy's job long ago switched to an adult job that is delivered by car.

Very Ezra Jack Keats. We loved it. I'd highly recommend as a gift to a young person.

Caldecott Honor 1997 - I wonder how many children would understand what it means to be a paperboy and the responsibilities that it entailed. Children would hardly be allowed that kind of task today for fear of something happening to them.
