One of my favourites in the series so far.
Uhtred is back home
! Basically, this book is Uhtred marching his way back home and spreading rumours up and down the country to throw his enemies off 😂

The historical notes at the end of each book tells the reader how much of the book is fictional and how much is history and regardless of how much is fiction, I still enjoy the books. This is a must read if you are already invested in the Saxon Stories, even if it's just to see Uhtred come home! This is the seventh book in my recent marathon of the Last Kingdom books and I'm thoroughly enjoying myself. Such a comfort series. I say it in almost every review but Cornwell writes amazing battle scenes!  Cornwell's book are so immersive and hard to put down. I'm looking forward to finishing the series.

Back to his best!!

I've long been a grudging reader of this series, wincing when things happen that are fictional, groaning when only Uhtred can save the day, but this tenth installment is without doubt, a delight. Perhaps it's because even BC admits the historical element of the novel is just about nonexistent, or perhaps (and I suspect this to be true) it offers an account of Athelstan, Constantin of the Scots and Domnall that ties in with my own research and stories but offers a refreshing take. Whichever it is, I finished this book with a smile and will hopefully find the dilemma of whether or not to read book 11 much easier than usual.

I've just read the last 6 books straight. It was a great read, a bit of a marathon, but enjoyable!

I'll miss Uhtred, I liked him.

It’s so awesome to finally see Uhtred reclaim Bebbanburg after 10 books!

It took me a long time to read this book, as it's not as strong as the earlier volumes in the series.
