This book is just so lovely. The story is well-paced, captivating, and filled with vivid, full characters that are a joy to revisit. April and Mitch’s story might be tied for my favorite in the series 🩵

This book was such a fun read. I found the ending dragged a bit but ultimately I was happy with the overall progression.

This was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed every second reading it.
Brief Summary:
April's daughter, Caitlyn, is about to head off to college leaving the single mother as an empty nester. April's dream is to sell the house and leave the small town for the city, but to get the biggest bang for her buck some improvements are needed.
Enter Mitch. Strong, handsome and knows his way around a paint brush. He's willing to help her under the condition that April help him out as well. Tired of being the single guy at the annual family get-together, Mitch enlists April's help a family dinner as his "girlfriend." April agrees.
Only the dinner turns into a weekend and things start to feel all too real. Then when they get home the lines between what is real and what isn't still are blurred and April is terrified to find out what that means.
Review:
This book was very well written and made me laugh so many times.
April and Mitch getting together has been my dream pairing since I saw them interact in Well Played. Already seeming very couple-like I was completely ready for their story.
I loved coming back to old characters and having them react to Mitch and April the way they did. I also loved that we watched Caitlyn grow into this adult over the last 2 books and can see her reactions to things. She was upset because her mother was planning to sell the house, and that is an understandable reaction. I recently read another book where the daughter, off to college, reacted to her mother just entering her bedroom after she left and that was more dramatic that Caitlyn's more realistic reaction to her mother planning to sell her childhood home.
Watching Mitch and April fall in love was wonderful. Mitch clearly had some interest in April in the last book so it was obvious that he would eventually make a move. When he did, it was exactly as I thought it would be. Each time that April pushed him away or denied their relationship, I was waiting for Mitch to react or say something, but until closer to the end he didn't. His reasoning made sense as well. He knew that she hadn't had anyone in her life like that in a long time so he wanted to give her time to adjust. When he finally gets upset, it's understandable why he would. I really enjoyed watching the whole growth of the relationship.
Mitch's family was also fantastic. You get the sense that the mother doesn't like April right before she practically comes out and says it, highlighting April's biggest issue about her and Mitch being together (her almost 10 years up on him). You also get to see how Mitch is like the "black sheep" of the family because his job is more down-to-earth while his cousins are much more ambitious (doctors, lawyers, etc). I loved watching April stand up for him. It was a great scene.
Overall, I just loved this book and only put it down to sleep and go to work. Otherwise I would have finished it that same night I brought it home from the bookstore. Wonderful read, I just loved it! I cannot wait until the next one releases next year.

This is the third book of this series, the story of the kilted hottie, Mitch, we’ve been dying to learn more about since the first book. I was SO EXCITED for him and April to end up together but come on April use your words and SAY HOW YOU FEEL. Mitch is a tender lover who really knows what he wants and deserves!! April is a strong independent woman who knows what she needs but has a heard time with what she really WANTS.
