{My thoughts} – I have become a huge fan of dystopian novels. I have read quite a few over the years and to me sometimes it’s like the same story but it’s altered slightly different. I know you know what I mean when I say that. This book had been compared to the Hunger Games {I’ve read}, Gone and the Maze Runner. All those series have wonderful popular ratings, so I thought why not and decided I’d give the book a chance. I usually just pick up a book and start reading it not really caring about what it’s about, but lately I have been in a reading rut, so I wanted to read something that would pull me in and hold my attention. This book successfully did that.
The way in which this book is written makes it entirely unique in terms of other books I have read in the past. I enjoyed that the characters and the readers were both in the same boat. That neither had more information than the other. As I was learning things and turning the pages, the characters were learning the same things while turning corners, kind of thing. I was drawn to it. The description within the pages can be described as brilliant, disturbing, and questionable considering it is a young adult book about twelve year-old children in a sense. However, it is so well written that those things just add to the appeal of the story and the book, and to the characters and their presentation.
I honestly think, that this author did an incredible job writing this book and it would make an interesting film adaptation. I can’t wait to begin book two in this trilogy and find out what is in store for our characters.

Arghh I love it, this book has be on the edge of my seat, Oh My Gosh new favourite definitely. Cant wait to finish it and read the second book, I went into this blind and don't regret it one bit.
Once I finished the novel, I was so intrigued and absolutely can not wait for the second book. I listening to this via Scott Sigler's YouTube serialised episodes because it just looked very interesting. Boy, did I make the best decision.

An interesting story which kept me reading throughout. But I have to say the last chapter felt a bit out of place and felt a bit out of character for the character.

So many holes in this books' plot. I was extremely disappointed in the ending and very confused, and I'm no stranger to sci-fi. The authors note at the end not to reveal any spoilers irked me and made me realize that the repetitive banter of Em about needing to be in charge was, in fact, exactly how the author feels in real life. So, in a very Em way, I am going to spoil it, despite the authors request.
It was aliens. 1,000+ year old aliens who made copies of themselves to survive a planet after theirs was no longer inhabitable. If the "monsters" can' survive on the new planet, then how are the monsters and the children surviving on the ship together, breathing the same air? If their mission was to bring the children to the planet, why didn't they just let them go to the planet? I'm not buying the whole "we want you to be worthy of inhabiting the new planet so you have to fight to earn it" plot. Why spend 1,000s of years of travel and 200+ years creating these copies of yourselves if you're just going to deny them completing the mission? And why did they talk about boobs so much?

Overall it was interesting and confusing. I'm not really sure where its going, but I will most likely read the next book I'm just not crazy about this one.

I definitely was not expecting to enjoy Alive as much as I did. Having never read a Scott Sigler novel, the last thing I thought I was investing in was an intriguing, amazingly-crafted novel with beautifully flawed characters that would keep me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book!!!! When I read the Mazerunner a few years ago, I was only a little bit impressed, but I have a feeling this whole trilogy will be, though similar, a thousand times better. I need Alight ASAP!!!!

I didn't like this one at all. I am not a fan of the books where you have to wait until the very end to get any answers, and then even then you don't get all the answers.
The main character was not even a little bit likable. But for some reason they all elected her as their leader. She wasn't the smartest, the most physically strong, or even the most socially adept. There was just nothing about her that would make other people follow her, except for that she decided she should be the leader.
This is not one I'd recommend at all, I'm sorry to say.
