I hate when one if the characters wont take no for an answer. Her whole life and company were on the line and he would have had 0 consequences but he kept being like....youre so pretty i wanna bone.

Pearl and Cord fell in love years ago but her career and determination to put her head before her heart led her to move away and break his heart. Now they find themselves back in the same city, him on the board of the NPO where she’s the executive director. As they seem to pick up where they left off, she still can’t circle the square to make her head and heart work together and he keeps trying too hard to prove his love to her.

Enjoyed so much! Found pearl to be insufferable towards the end and think she should have apologized more to Cord. Looking forward to reading more from Denise Williams!

I think this book caused a reading slump for me.
Like, it was fine but also… not? Things happened and at the same time things did not?

Denise Williams never disappointed. I loved the two main characters, their love story and the relatable social issues in this novel. A must read!

Honestly I didn’t finish the last few chapters. It got kinda boring. Cord is a babe and a half though

I went back and finished the end and it’s cute. Went from three to four stars.
