I really enjoyed this collection of writing from Native youth, many of whom were still in high school when this book was published in 2007. The stories span a variety of generations, from "contact" to present day, with a particular focus on stories of those who did, or did not survive the violence of residential schools. Family, land, spirit, and resilience are front and center in these stories. I would have loved to see the grammatical issues dealt with by the editor.
Special shout out to Amanda Wapass-Griffin's story "Silence Speaks a Thousand Words".
