I find myself continuing to read this series, out of dedication to the author more than anything else (and because I'm strange about not stopping something I've stared, which includes book series). The premise is clever and I suspect if I were a mom of a 10-year-old I'd be a lot more smitten with The Treasure Chest series. Hats off to Ann Hood on her divergence from dark adult fiction.

This series is getting better and it handled another heavy topic in this book -- Death. I think it was appropriate for a middle grade book and it worked really well. Maisie is getting a bit easier to handle, thank goodness. I would recommend this book and series to preteens. 4 out of 5 stars.

I would've loved the time traveling twins angle when I was a kid, but it's a bit too juvenile for me now. Too bad; I love Harry Houdini.

Got to page 63 before I gave up; read it in one sitting and found myself skipping paragraphs. Not a good sign.
