This one may not have been my favourite out of the set so far, but it definitely stands on its own. I love that these are just becoming "it couldn't have been Lupin, he's dead!" "do you really think I would die without leaving behind some kind of drama PLEASE".

Not the worst book I had to read for French class. Quite long, but I kinda liked it I guess. And ... yeah.

Actual rating should be 3.5

Leblanc was one of the first people who successfully wrote a fan-fiction...
Who doesn't want to read about the most popular gentleman thief and the world-famous detective measure their wits?

It's a true England vs France piece, where the conclusion was more than satisfactory.
While Maurice portrait Holmes well, he did poor Watson dirty... That's the only part of the story where you as the reader remember that this is not an actual Conan Doyle story - the way Watson acts is just so out of character that it spoils the aura of this book a good bit.

ps. If you are a fan of 'my dear Watson', then go into reading this otherwise a masterpiece of a fanfic, with a pinch of salt :)
