Emphatically not for me. I can recognize some skill in Cutter's execution, but mostly this is just really gross and really OTT -- mutant worms and a storm and not one but two characters who are psychopaths? Did we really need all of that?

I am not sure how I feel about this one! I went in completely blind, and for the most part… I was invested. This book gave me the ick! Seriously! It will definitely stay with me for awhile! Yikes! DEFINITELY check trigger warnings if you decide on this book! Your mental health is far more important!

It was a bit difficult for me to get into the story at first, I'm not sure I entirely like how Nick Cutter writes. I don't love how much animal harm is in the book. I almost DNF it, but I kept reading and I ended up hooked by the tense atmosphere and the character interactions. I really started to care about (most of) the characters and found that I needed to keep reading.
It's a messed up story, but that's exactly what I signed up for.
