Fantasy is an escapist endeavor but to succeed in that, an element of wow-ing should be present. As derivative the genre is, the hurdle is not impossible to jump. This one sticks too close to safety, thus being predicatable and boring. DNF.

What an amazing book. The first 50% is slow and very character driven which pays of massively in the second half. Its been a while since ive been so engrossed in the outcome of battles and schemes even for secondary characters! Can not wait to continue with this serious
