3.5 rounded up

On the surface, the idea of a Reverse Harem novel based on superheroes is fantastic! It’s execution, however, was a bit disjointed and far too fast for a true connection, either with the readers or for the characters. That is just my view though, and why this gained a 4, as a round up from my personal 3.5 rating. There are fans out there that will LOVE this, and you should definitely give it a try if it strikes your fancy. While I’m not I’ve off those fans, YOU might be. The plot moves at a steady clip and the reasoning behind certain actions make sense. Its just how it was put together that left me blasé.

Such a cool read

I love A.J. Macey and all of her work. This was no exception. I love the superhero storyline but in truth tye mystery of who, what and why in this story is intriguing. I enjoyed getting to know Evera and I hope she gets the revenge she's looking for. In this book we learn why she's withdrawn and surrounds herself with solitude. But when the past collides with the present she learns that maybe loneliness isn't in the cards for her. The guys are all interesting. Acer, the hacker, I adored. He gets Evera and is just so sweet. Kane is hot as sin. The others we're still getting to know and I have to admit Declan has me curious. All in all a great start to a new series you won't be able to put down.

Usually, I read through books pretty fast. With this one though, I found myself reading it slowly to really enjoy the story and I am so glad that I did! A.J. Macey has created another wonderful world with some amazing characters that you will fall in love with. My favorites happen to be Declan, Acer, and Silas. If you love stories with masked vigilantes with superpowers, hot men, and a kick ass heroine, then this book is for you. The only question I have for you... Who will be your favorite characters when you are through with the story?

In 1999, the Rad Wave hit Earth, not affecting most people, giving others Phenomenal abilities, and killing many who did not survive the change. The world has been trying to figure out what to do with Phenoms ever since, but none of it has been good.

Life has been hard for Evera. After the Rad Wave hit, she and her brother were orphaned and left to fend for themselves in a children's home. While navigating growing up, they try to figure out how to manage, hide, and utilize their Phenomenal Powers. 10 years later, her brother is murdered in an alley and Evera is abandoned by the only other people in her life she's close to. Now, 10 years after his murder, Evera is still trying to hunt down his killer while working a low paying job and eating a meal every other day. She has a single friend, Trace, whom she only contacts while in-mask and online, and he helps keep her hidden and safe from those who would take her to experiment on or worse. Following the latest—tiny—lead on her brother's murder, Evera is discovered by The Syndicate, and life for her and Trace changes forever. Evera will have to navigate a decade of hurts and betrayals as she adjusts to her new situation.

I'm usually not keen on RH romance, but I rather enjoyed this one—even if I think two of the guys are alphahole jerks who should be tossed—and thought it was rather well done. There's an interesting mix of personalities and temperaments displayed in here, and each man feels unique. And Evera? Despite being in the age category I usually have trouble reading about due to Brat Syndrome, she's pretty enjoyable as a leading lady. She has plenty of impulse issues and a temper, but she's also a good no-nonsense gets-shit-done kind of a gal. She kicks a lot of ass and takes names.

I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment in the spring.

Super steamy and a unique story to boot

This was such a cool, fast paced story. The relationships and heat in them worked perfectly, even if I did want to knock a couple of the guys upside the head a few times. Loved that Evera was such hardcore character with a soft squishy middle. Can't wait for more of the story!

A.J. Macey does it again! I'm honestly not surprised at this point, because she has hit it out of the park with every book of hers I've read. This book has everything; superheroes, a sassy badass heroine, and absolutely delicious and wonderful guys supporting her, along with suspense and adventure. I loved everything about Evera, from how she handled herself in a bind, to the way she stands up for herself when a bunch of dudes try to tell her they know better.

The story wasn't easily predictable and had me itching to keep reading after every chapter. Book 2 can't come soon enough!
