Frederic Brown is one of my favorite mystery writers. He wrote A LOT of stories, some better than others. This is a fine compilation of some of his short stories that were published in pulp mystery magazines in the 1940's. I collect pulp mystery mags but because of the pulpy cheap paper I don't like actually reading them so having some of Brown's stories published in a book is handy. Out of this collection, I like the story about the actor and the story about the sanitarium the best. This is a good book to read before bed since the stories are all fairly short and are easy reads. None of them are as brilliant as his novels The Fabulous Clipjoint or The Screaming Mimi but if you are a fan of his then these stories are worth checking out.
