I really enjoyed it! I do see how it's far worse than the first book. It feels like things were not properly set up and did not have a clear narrative. This made it feel like things just happened because the plot needed them to, not based on what had previously happened.
Despite this, I enjoyed my experience. The focus was the characters' relationships, and that was my favorite part of the first book, so I loved reading more about them in this book.

To be honest, I don't think it's as bad as all the negative reviews of this book make it out to be, but it's definitely much worse than the first one.
The quality is definitely a lot worse, and I noticed multiple punctuation and grammar mistakes in my fully finished copy of this book which isn't great. The book feels rushed and way too fast-paced but it also took me sooooo long to read. I think the first maybe third of the book is comparable to the first book but after that, no. Even the ending and reveals felt rushed, so that's fun. I hate to be that person but it might be best to just leave this series at the first book. There are definitely a fair amount of good moments in the book, but I'm not sure if they outweigh the bad. Read at your own discretion I suppose.

This might be controversial, but I enjoyed this one much more than the first book. I found the plot points hit much stronger for me and that I overall found this book much more compelling.
I love the three of them together and I think this book built on their dynamic really well, seeing a slightly different aspect once they were with the other courts, as well as seeing how their relationship was different to the other kindreds.
The last 50-70 pages went a little awry in my opinion and the last battle, while the villain made sense, didn’t quite have enough build up for it to be satisfying. That is something that I have found in both books is that the political discussions and relationships are really well built and described, but the battle scenes and fights are very quick, and don’t have as much detail as I would have liked.

This book.... UGHHHHHH. I am so disappointed. I loved the first one and I was so excited to read the sequel. The book was so rushed and we did not spend enough with all the crazy events that happened at the end of the book. There were some plot points that I felt were rushed. I liked all the plot points that were there but I think we needed more time for them to fully develop. I also feel like the romantic relationship did not progress in anyway. It felt stagnant when there was so much room from growth.
I did like the the story, I just wanted so much more from the story.
