★★★★★ - I loved the epilogue. It was definitely a great addition to [b:Metro 2033|17274667|Metro 2033 (Metro, #1)|Dmitry Glukhovsky|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1379621430l/17274667._SY75_.jpg|5729918]!
This epilogue wasn't very long (27 pages). It is written from Artyom's point of view, contrary to Metro 2033.
I don't have much to say since it was so short but I definitely don't regret reading this. There's a small cliffhanger at the end that makes me wanna read [b:Metro 2034|6667916|Metro 2034 (Metro, #2)|Dmitry Glukhovsky|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1346448276l/6667916._SY75_.jpg|56209203]... However, I don't know if I'll read that immediately because I heard quite a lot of negative reviews concerning this book.
Concerning [b:The Gospel According to Artyom|18910881|The Gospel According to Artyom (Metro #1.5)|Dmitry Glukhovsky|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1437654972l/18910881._SX50_.jpg|56808773], it was a nice epilogue and I definitely recommend reading it if you enjoyed [b:Metro 2033|17274667|Metro 2033 (Metro, #1)|Dmitry Glukhovsky|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1379621430l/17274667._SY75_.jpg|5729918] because you have here some explanations about the ending and Artyom's backstory.

A not-exactly uplifting post-epilogue to Metro 2033 from the POV of Artyom.

I read this without reading 2033, though I did play the game, so I know the basics. A good, if depressing lead-in to Metro 2034.

METRO 2033: The Gospel According to Artyom is a bridge to METRO 2034. It is only twenty-seven pages but well worth the $2.99 price. Artyom illustrates the consequences of the events the ended METRO 2033. But this short piece also gives significant background into his life before and during the apocalyptic event. It really is worth the price.

back to back review lol! this took quite some scouring to find online cause i wasn't gonna order a single chapter online... but anyways, it is great and really fleshes out the ending of 2033, making it more emotional and setting up the next book (i think, i mean it sets up the second game??). although i think 2034 is focused more on other characters, and then maybe 2035 follows this more directly? i have no idea but i will find out!

"The Gospel According to Artyom" is an epilogue to Metro 2033, showing the fallout of the ending of the novel as Artyom comes to terms with his past and destroying the Dark Ones.

Reading this short story after Metro 2033 was like night and day. 2033's English translation was very rough and every character would break into monologues. And while "The Gospel According to Artyom" is essentially a soliloquy, here, the prose flows a lot better. It wasn't a slog to get through, unlike 2033.

Also, since this is exploring the aftermath of bombing the Dark Ones, Artyom isn't bumbling into trouble, one after the other. This feels like Artyom's story, unlike Metro 2033 where he felt like the bumbling sidekick to the real heroes.
