I read this during a difficult time, and learned a lot from it. Not the greatest book, but I enjoyed how the leaders were able to both validate the parent's concerns, hear their questions, and then teach them in a gentle and respectful way. I really enjoyed how the parents were able to be humble enough to open their eyes, and make the necessary changes.

While I enjoyed the advice on shifting your perspective in a conflict to see the humanity in others, the storyline felt contrived and often glossed over true grief and suffering. It was a good book, but could have been written much better.

I’ve read this multiple times and always get something valuable out it. The characters and scenarios are a little contrived but useful in their simplicity to illustrate the lessons needed for the mind shift.

An artifice written in allegory. “Lovely” book; however, it seemed more focused on the trees instead of the forest. Definitely consider conducting research.

I'm not sure whether to rate the philosophy or the telling of it. The philosophy itself is interesting and I think has value, but the telling of it, as well as some of the application, was hard to get through. I found the story and characters to be distracting from the philosophy, and I struggled most in the moments when they leaned toward prescriptive application in the areas of racial politics.

Wow. I’m not a big fan of self-help and non-fiction books. I usually don’t read them.

But…

This book is so incredibly thought-provoking and inspirational. If you struggle with any of your relationships (personal, professional, etc.), you need this book! 👏🏻
