A very short story about a young widow and her adventure in a masquerade ball. Too short to actually form opinions on the characters, yet an entertaining first glimpse of the writer's style.

The ending is a very compact and quick introduction to the first book of the series, featuring the young bookshop owner and young and pretty widow, Juliana Merton and a -what else- scandalous nobleman.
